Tips on how to make a great website.
1]. GET A SUBJECT
Okay? Basically you can't make a website without anything to do it on. A few suggestions could be a celebrity you like a lot, a sports team, an entire movie, or your graphics and artwork. I chose a celebrity as you can always update and make new things for your site about that celebrity.
2]. LEARN HTML
It may sounds like a gruelling process but you must do it. No-one likes a site made by a SITEBUILDER like a freewebs premade. I'm not 'dissing' freewebs however because their HTML sites are amazing, and I use them to host my site. You can pick the Freewebs HTML option when you are chosing the template, instead of picking one there is a text link to the UPLOAD YOUR OWN SITE. Choose that. If you don't have a clue about HTML there are loads of sites that can teach you the basics.
3]. LAYOUTS
You need your layout to be easy to navigate around and not too 'in your face' remeber that's what people first see, that means no fluorescent pinks or oranges, stick to neutral colours like pale greens and blues or reds.
4]. GET LOTS OF CONTENT, BUT NOT TOO MUCH
It will make your site look way too busy if you have a gazillion pages, keep it full but not overloaded. If you're doing a celeb site then include the biography and all that stuff, have a look at your favourite celebrity site and see what they have, go along those lines.
5]. CREATE YOUR OWN IDEAS
Stay unique. Don't just copy and paste others stuff even if you have asked permission, think of new ideas that other sites haven't thought of, that will draw people to your site just for your uniqueness!
6]. FINALLY, GET LOTS OF HITS
This is what you want. So the best way to do this is to become affliates and exchange links with other sites, nearly every single site does this, the site you affliate with will put your button or name on their site for others to see, and you'll have to do the same for them, but its well worth it, cos more people see your site!
